Application Requirements

The Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences program welcomes applicants interested in advanced study and research in the biomedical sciences.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor鈥檚 degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record, particularly in the natural sciences, such as biology, chemistry, or physics.
  • Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Submit three letters of recommendation, preferably from science faculty, research supervisors, or others who can speak to the applicant鈥檚 academic and research potential.
  • Submit a completed online application and all required supporting materials.
  • Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee.

Application Review & Selection

Admission to the Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences program is competitive. Applications are reviewed holistically by the Graduate Admissions Committee, with consideration given to:

  • Undergraduate and graduate academic performance, particularly relevant science coursework
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Research and professional experience
  • Academic preparation and readiness for doctoral-level study
  • Interest in biomedical research and alignment with the program鈥檚 mission

Prior research experience is recommended but not required.

Selected applicants are invited to participate in an interview, which is required for admission to the program.

Application Deadline

Fall Admission: January 15

Completed applications, including all required supporting materials and the $50 non-refundable application fee, must be submitted by the deadline.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their application and supporting materials early to allow sufficient time for application review and processing.

International Applicants

The Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences program accepts one international student per academic year.

International applicants should allow additional time for the admissions and enrollment process. International students must meet all institutional requirements related to international student enrollment and demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover tuition, fees, living expenses, and other costs associated with study in the United States.
